Keto Chocolate Frosted Donuts with Allulose

Sugar-Free • Low-Carb • Gluten-Free • Grain-Free

These decadent keto chocolate frosted donuts deliver all the indulgence of a bakery treat — without the sugar crash. Using Keystone Pantry Allulose for sweetness, almond flour for a soft crumb, and a rich chocolate frosting, these donuts are perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a guilt-free snack. They’re also gluten-free, grain-free, and diabetic-friendly.

Why This Recipe Works

This recipe is designed to keep carbs low while maintaining a moist, tender texture and rich flavor. Traditional donuts rely on sugar and wheat flour for structure and sweetness, but here’s how we achieve the same satisfaction with keto-friendly ingredients.

Ingredients & Their Purpose

Donuts

  • 2 cups almond flour – Provides a soft, cake-like crumb without gluten. It’s high in healthy fats, low in carbs, and naturally gluten-free. Almond flour also adds a mildly nutty flavor.

  • 1/3 cup Keystone Pantry Allulose – A natural rare sugar that tastes like sugar but has almost zero net carbs. It browns and caramelizes like sugar, helping the donuts achieve a golden exterior while keeping them keto-friendly.

  • 2 tsp baking powder (corrected from baking soda) – The leavening agent that gives the donuts lift and a light, airy texture.

  • 1/3 cup unsalted melted butter – Adds richness, moisture, and flavor. Using unsalted butter gives you better control over the final flavor.

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk – Keeps the batter moist while adding very few carbs. Almond milk is also dairy-free, making these donuts suitable for those avoiding milk.

  • 3 large eggs – Bind the ingredients together, help with structure, and contribute to the donut’s fluffy rise.

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract – Enhances sweetness and adds depth to the flavor.

Chocolate Frosting

  • 1 bag Keystone Pantry Frosting Mix – Sugar-free chocolate buttercream-style frosting that whips up quickly with water. It gives a rich, creamy, chocolatey topping without added sugar.

  • 3 Tbsp water – Hydrates the frosting mix to a spreadable consistency.

Instructions

  1. Prep the oven – Preheat to 350°F (177°C). Lightly grease your donut pan to prevent sticking.

  2. Mix dry ingredients – In a large mixing bowl, whisk together almond flour, allulose, and baking powder.

  3. Add wet ingredients – Stir in the melted butter, almond milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and lump-free.

  4. Fill the pan – Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut wells, filling each about ¾ full.

  5. Bake – Bake for 12–15 minutes until the donuts are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Cool completely – Let donuts rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. This prevents breakage and keeps the texture tender.

  7. Make the frosting – In a separate bowl, whisk the frosting mix with water until smooth.

  8. Frost – Once donuts are fully cooled, spread or pipe frosting on top.

  9. Serve & enjoy – Best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
