🍊 Keto Orange Creamsicles – Refreshing, Creamy, and Sugar-Free

When you think of summer, few treats are as iconic as an orange creamsicle. That nostalgic blend of zesty citrus and creamy vanilla is pure sunshine on a stick. But traditional creamsicles are loaded with sugar, making them off-limits for anyone on a keto or low-carb lifestyle.

This Keto Orange Creamsicle recipe gives you all the flavor and creamy indulgence without the sugar spike. Each ingredient has been carefully chosen to balance flavor, texture, and nutrition—while keeping carbs to a minimum.

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or coconut milk for dairy-free)

  • 1/3 cup Keystone Pantry Allulose

  • 1 tsp orange extract

  • 2 tsp orange zest (from fresh orange peel)

  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: A drop or two of natural food coloring for that signature orange look

🔍 Ingredient Breakdown

🥛 Heavy Cream

  • Purpose: Heavy cream provides the rich, velvety base of the creamsicle. It adds that luscious, melt-in-your-mouth creaminess that makes this treat indulgent.

  • Fun Fact: Heavy cream is naturally low in carbs—just 1 gram per tablespoon—making it a keto-friendly powerhouse for desserts.

🌰 Unsweetened Almond Milk

  • Purpose: Almond milk lightens the mixture, so the creamsicle isn’t overwhelmingly rich. It balances the texture and helps it freeze into the perfect popsicle consistency.

  • Fun Fact: Almond milk has been around since at least the Middle Ages, when it was used during Lent as a substitute for dairy in Europe.

🍭 Keystone Pantry Allulose

  • Purpose: Allulose is our star sweetener. Unlike sugar, it doesn’t spike blood sugar or kick you out of ketosis. It also has unique properties—it freezes softer than other sweeteners, preventing your popsicle from becoming rock-hard.

  • Fun Fact: Allulose is called a rare sugar because it naturally occurs in tiny amounts in foods like figs, raisins, and maple syrup.

🍊 Orange Extract

  • Purpose: Orange extract delivers that bold citrus punch without adding sugar or carbs. It gives the creamsicle its classic fruity flavor.

  • Fun Fact: Extracts are highly concentrated—just one teaspoon of orange extract is the flavor equivalent of several oranges!

🍊 Orange Zest

  • Purpose: Zest adds a natural brightness and complexity that extract alone can’t deliver. The essential oils in the peel give the creamsicle a true fresh-orange aroma.

  • Fun Fact: Almost all of the orange’s aroma compounds are found in the peel, not the juice—so zesting is where the magic really happens.

🍋 Fresh Lemon Juice

  • Purpose: Lemon juice sharpens the citrus profile and enhances the overall brightness. It also balances the richness of the cream so the popsicle isn’t too heavy.

  • Fun Fact: Lemon juice is nature’s flavor enhancer. Just like salt boosts savory dishes, a splash of lemon amplifies sweetness and freshness in desserts.

🍦 Vanilla Extract

  • Purpose: Vanilla rounds out the flavors, marrying the citrus tang with the creamy base. It creates that nostalgic “creamsicle” profile we all remember.

  • Fun Fact: Vanilla orchids are hand-pollinated—a single vanilla bean can take up to nine months to grow, making it one of the most labor-intensive (and valuable) spices in the world.

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, almond milk, allulose, orange extract, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and orange zest until smooth.

  2. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or citrus intensity to your liking.

  3. Pour into popsicle molds. If you’d like that classic orange color, stir in a drop or two of natural coloring.

  4. Insert sticks and freeze for at least 6 hours or until firm.

  5. To release, run the outside of the mold under warm water for a few seconds, then gently pull out your creamsicles.

🍊 The Result

What you’ll get is a creamy, refreshing, sugar-free orange creamsicle that tastes just like childhood—without the sugar crash. Each bite has the perfect blend of citrusy brightness and silky smooth vanilla cream.
